I am very disappointed in this sheet. I haven't had the shrinkage problems that some have but my problem is the fabric itself. I ordered the Celery Stars color and it reminds me of the super cheap sheets sold at discount department stores. If this fabric were on my pillow, I would have a fit. It is not the least bit soft to the skin so I can't imagine laying my little grandson's face on it. A total waste of money. I also ordered the American Baby Co. 100% Cotton Value Jersey Knit Porta-Crib Sheet so that I could compare the two. I got it in the Celery color and it is wonderful! I'm getting two more. It is soft and cuddly and fits my (40.0 x 28.5 x 33.25) porta-crib great.

In Feb 2010, when the first of our triplets (aged 22 mos at that time) decided to climb out of his crib repeatedly, we purchased three of these. We figured the other two babies were on their way to climbing out so better to have 2 more on hand than deal with the sleepless nights we dealt with because of the crib climbing.

I would give the concept of this product 5 stars, however, within the first 2 weeks, the first crib tent tore along one of the seams. I figured it was a dud and installed another crib tent in that crib. The sides of that one did not rip, however; within days it developed a hole in the front panel (zippered piece) that my son would have made bigger and bigger with his finger if I had not sewn it shut. (Note - Amazon took back the first faulty tent and gave me 100% refund with no problem).

Soon after, another of my sons decided to start climbing out of his crib. Installed his tent. Tore on the seam within a month. I called Tots in Mind and was advised that my crib may be too big for the tent because it is a convertible crib. They gave me max measurements that it would fit. My crib was SMALLER than those measurements so Tots in Mind has replaced both crib tents.

Fast forward to about a month ago. We transitioned the boys to toddler beds. Within a couple of days it became clear that one of the boys would not tolerate his brothers bugging him at bedtime, he would scream at the top of his lungs. So we quasi-installed the crib tents on the toddler beds. It doesnt provide much room for them but they are only supposed to be sleeping anyway and it keeps two of my boys away from the third who wants to be left alone.

Finally, I would go with the original crib tent if I had to do this again. The original does not cover all 4 sides of the crib, just the ends, which means there would be no way for it to rip on the seam. We never had issues with the boys getting their arms or legs stuck in the crib slats so this model would have worked better for us.

I would still highly recommend this item, for it has saved us from many sleepless or rough nights with triplets. But get the original, the Crib Tent II needs work.

I purchased this item when my almost 9 month-old started pulling up to standing on the bars of her crib and stepping on the bumpers in an attempt to climb out. Having heard the horror story of my own plummet from my crib when I was only a month older than my daughter, I decided a crib tent needed to be purchased. It arrived in a timely manner, was relatively easy to assemble, is sturdy, and fits my daughter's crib well. I no longer have to worry about her climbing out of her crib or getting one of her legs stuck between the bars. She also goes to sleep much more quickly in her crib now that she sees it as a place to sleep rather than a jungle gym where she can practice her newly-learned pulling-up trick.

The only minor problem with putting the tent together was that as I was sliding the rods into the tent, they started to come apart. This was easily remedied with a little bit of black electrical tape at the places where the rods connected to each other (6 smaller parts make up the 2 rods that hold the tent up). I figured that the electrical tape would be best because it is stretchy and would not hinder the bending of the rods or the shape of the tent. I followed the instructions exactly, and there is no way that the rods will come out of the sleeves unless I physically remove them.

My husband and I got the crib tent when our baby was born because we have two cats who claimed the crib as their new favorite sleeping space even before the baby arrived home! We had to customize the tent a little for various reasons (for example, our crib has very wide slats), but once we set it up it worked perfectly. I do think the cats would have been scared off initially by the baby himself, but after a few weeks they definately tried to get back in. We usually don't even close the zipper because the tent itself makes the whole enterprise look like too much trouble. I would definately recommend it for keeping cats out, though you might have to be a little creative when setting it up.

When one of our twin boys figured out how to climb out of his crib at 22 months old, we lowered their mattresses to the lowest setting and spun around their sleigh cribs, so that the lower side was against the wall. Afraid that wouldn't be enough, we also purchased two of these crib tents, which we put away to use in case we needed them. The turned-around cribs worked until today (8 months later).

Today, we pulled out the crib tents, only to discover that they do NOT fit our sleigh cribs; the cribs are about four inches longer than the tents, and the straps to secure the tents to the top railings are far too short to wrap around the railings. This is a huge disappointment, since Tots in Mind has the only crib tent on the market--plus we paid $70 for each of them and cannot return them.

I just spent about an hour trying to fold this bed back into it's pouch in preparation for our trip. I guess we're leaving without it, since it like the Rubik's cube: you can never get one side right. Even with the easy-breezy instruction video on kidco site, it is just impossible!

Very frustrating, and now forcing me into worrying about the trip and my baby's sleeping arrangement. I'll give it another try after cooling off, but jeez... Can it be ANY harder?!

The bed itself looks like a winner in comfort and "amenities" like the easy to inflate mattress, bug screens, etc, but only if you can fold it back and take it along. Otherwise - pointless.

I had a hard time purchasing this bed because it is a little on the expensive side and I have twins. I bought two Peapod Pluses and paid very close attention as to how to refold them (since a lot of complaints came from that area). My kids (who are 2 years old) loved them right away. That sat inside of them and watched TV and thought zipping them open and closed was a lot of fun. Today was the first day I attempted to get them to sleep inside. Both crawled inside and made themselves comfortable. I zipped my son inside (only the screen not the solid outer cover) and he whined for about 10 seconds but settled into a nap. My daughter (who is a little more mature) I left hers open because I didn't want to encase her the first time she slept in it. She slept a full nap and was very happy when she woke up. My son is still snoozing as I type this. Tonight we'll give it a go for nighttime sleep.

We are traveling to Paris in a week so we need these beds to take to the grandparents house where they are staying while we're gone. I'm happy I bought them since my two don't fit in pack and plays anymore yet are still too young for a big bed.

Notes:

I bought two of the red/blue kind because I read the reviews that said that they yellow/silver one does not come with a pump. Looking back, I wish I could have bought one red/blue and one yellow/silver because the red/blue one comes with a pump! I don't need two pumps, I could have just used the one to inflate both mattresses. DOH! Also, the mattresses do not seem too awful to inflate by mouth if need be. I like to distinguish one as my daughters and one as my sons to eliminate "Mine!" fights. I'll use stickers or something else I guess.

The sleeping bag is pointless unless you are really going camping outdoors and need warmth. It's pretty thick and is really hot. I didn't put the sleeping bag inside but did what others suggested. I took the inflatable mattress, covered it in a mattress pad and sheet from their cribs (fits great) and then put that inside on top of the floor of the tent. I didn't put the mattress in it's little pocket under the tent because the tent floor is rather loud and scratchy. This method works great.

I didn't have a problem refolding the tent. I don't know why some people are having a hard time. It's possible they think they can fold it with the mattress inside? or maybe they don't do a slight "twist" at the end. I suggest just paying very close attention when you get it in the mail. See how it is all folded up before you pop it open. I took a short video of it so I can reference it.

Just got the peapod plus this week. Opened it up and it was instantly ready for use. I was nervous about folding it back up after reading some of the reviews. So my husband and I read the instructions carefully and followed the pictures (they must have changed the instructions b/c mine had written instructions and pictures that weren't miniscule-- unlike some complaints from other reviews). After one try, we were able to fold it up in less than 30 seconds (and we're not handy types). We were impressed. I let my 5 year old and 9 month old play in the tent for 2 days. Then the big test..... I put my 9 month old to nap in it as we are going away this weekend and wanted him to be familiar with the tent as his bed, and he loved it. He slept in it just like he does in his crib. But to make it more comfortable for him, I put the air mattress inside the tent (as opposed to bottom pouch) and put the sleeping bag that came with the tent on top of the mattress, and covered it all up with a crib sheet. The crib sheet stayed in place. I am very happy with this product. I don't write many reviews but thought this one deserved it. If this product lasts, it will be well worth the price.

I love it! My almost-two-year-old loves it and prefers it over his bed. The air mattress is great and the tent is well-made. My only complaint is that the sleeping bag isn't that warm and it slides like crazy on the tent floor. I wish there were a way to fasten the sleeping bag to the tent so it stayed in place. What two year old stays still when they sleep? (Not mine, for sure). Aside from that, I love it, and will most likely come up with a way to fasten the sleeping bag down myself.

I bought this for my new born son about 6 weeks ago. At first we liked it since it takes a small space and is easy to move around from room to room. But things started falling apart very quickly. First the wheels will not stay in place and would keep falling out, I fixed it with a super glue so that it would stay on. After a few more weeks, one of the side rails broke and it made the platform where the child sleeps fall down while my son was still on it, we were lucky that he did not sustain any injuries. Overall, this is a very flimsy product and not very safe for your child. I suspect most of the reviewers here provide reviews soon after they receive the product, so it fails to capture issues that arise a few weeks into using it.

This crib has worked perfectly for us. We have a very small apartment and needed a crib that would fit in our bedroom. Our son will eventually outgrow it, but still uses it now as a large 13 month old. For my job I've spent a lot of time looking at safety recalls on products for children, making me very familiar with all the ways cribs dangerously fail, and I find this crib is very safe when assembled properly. The fact that it (very easily) folds flat for storage without being disassembled makes it less likely to loose original hardware or be reassembled wrong for a second child or second-hand user. I appreciate the fact that the instructions are written on the base of the crib so they're always available. Like others I used a different mattress, but didn't mind because most cribs don't come with a mattress.

This Portable crib is too heavy, difficult to adjust and way too expensive. Contrary to manufacturers description that it can be used for toddlers, it's really only good for infants up until about 8 months. The mattress is very thin. As grandparents of two babies, we could not fit two full-sized cribs and recliner-rockers in our nursery for our daughters-in law. These cribs are perfect, they fold and into the closet they go when we have overnight guests. Side slides up or down as needed, and mattress has several positions from newborn to 24 months (aprox). Mattress is very thin, but babies do not seem to mind. Will probably replace for a thicker mattress soon though. Love it! Strongly recomend.

Koala Baby sheets from Babies R' Us fit this mattress (some fitted sheets are too shallow).

It is pretty easy to assemble, and has a lot of room for baby to grow. Unlike bassinets, the weight limit is 50lbs! I don't like the fact that the mattress support is not adjustable like full-size cribs-- It only has a very low position for the mattress (May be difficult to get baby in and out when I'm recovering from a c-section?).

It is really convenient to be able to wheel it from room to room if I need to-- I don't plan on folding it up much, as I think it would damage the finish. Overall, I'm really glad I purchased this.

I'm not sure about everyone else but other then the occasional trip (and to be fair, if they invited my kid they probably HAVE a portacrib already) most portable cribs I see are permenently set up as a downstairs "put the baby down / napping crib". If that is your purpose, this crib is excellent. Instead of having a bulky nylon and mesh monstronsity smack dab in the middle of your living room, this allows you to have a pretty, streamlined wooden crib, with your baby elevated! The slats allow you to see your sleeping cherub and the higher height and wheels make it easier on your back. I used it as both a downstairs changing table AND crib. Also, we used it exclusively during the day and it was better all around. My daughter was able to nap within easy reach, and I didn't have to constantly run up and down stairs. Add to that having a downstairs crib exposed her to noise (tv, phone, vacuum!) and she learned to sleep through just about anything.

Many reveiwers comment on the "thin" mattress. I'm not certain that's a factor. I think wanting a plush mattress is akin to seeing catfood in commercials served on china. I'm fairly sure the cat doesn't care, and I know for sure my daughter didn't.

The only - only - downside is, you get what you pay for. If you really want this to be "portable" - it's not a great option. It's cheap. And yes, it wouldn't hold more then 35lbs, and as soon as she could jump, she was out. But we LOVED it and I would recommend it as a secondary crib without reservation.

This crib was a lifesaver for us! We live in a small condo and didn't have room for a full-size crib. This was the PERFECT solution. Because it's made of wood, it looks much classier than the other alternatives we considered (which were made of white plastic tubing or were pack-and-plays). It also conforms to all the safety standards for portable cribs.

It was simple to assemble, folds very flat, and can easily roll through doorways. The platform is easy to switch from the upper to the lower position (but this design makes it impossible to put a skirt on the crib unless you are able to sew your own with openings for the levers and the parts of the platform that protrude through the slats). Only one side goes up and down, and it does take two hands to do that... but at 5 feet 5 inches tall I can easily reach in and out without having to raise or lower the side.

It differs from a standard size crib mainly in that it is not as long, so I don't anticipate that our daughter will be able to climb out of it any earlier than she would a standard size crib. We also put my friends' two year old (who is at the 90th percentile for height) into this crib once, and he fit in it just fine.

Like other reviewers, we did buy a two inch portable crib mattress (38 x 24 inches) to replace the thinner mattress that came with the crib. We love the crib so much, however, that this extra expense was no big deal. Of note, two inches is the thickest mattress that is considered safe for this crib.

I don't think this crib would be practical for families looking for something to take in the car on trips, but it's great for those without room for the full-size version or who want something that can be set up and then stored away again quickly (i.e. at Grandma's house).

ADDENDUM 11/2008

At 18 months, our daughter is now 32 inches tall and weighs 27 lbs. She still sleeps just fine in this crib and hasn't climbed out once. Though it's starting to look a little cramped in there for her, she doesn't seem to mind a bit. We were able to hand a Fischer-Price aquarium on one of the short sides for her. We've also taken it to the babysitter's house in the back of our Subaru Outback. We've learned that you have to be careful with the little plastic hook in front because it can scratch the finish if you don't hold it away from the slat as you move it. Overall, we are still thrilled with this purchase and are hoping that it will last us until our daughter is ready for a regular bed.

ADDENDUM 1/2010

At 24 months, our daughter was 35 inches tall and weighed 30 lbs. She was starting to look a little cramped in this crib and graduated to a Delta big-girl toddler bed. Baby brother has taken over this crib, and we still love it. Apart from a few scratches, it has held up well.

This crib is portable in the fact that it does collapse flat. But it does not fold up really small like a pack n' play playpen/crib. It is perfect for the family that cannot afford a bulky expensive piece of furniture. It is nice for us because we live in a small apartment and are about to move for the second time since our daughter was born 17 months ago. The crib is simple with clean lines and seems to be well made. The mattress is very thin, however, so I recommend buying a Colgate portable crib mattress.

Our child is 7 months old now - and we love so many things about this traveller - it is lightweight, I feel that she is very safe in it, it looks cool, and can use indoors and outdoors.

However, I agree with so many of the other reviews - two main issues with this:

1) It takes longer to try to get it all in the carry bag than it takes to break it down. The bag should really be bigger - it is quite the ordeal to stuff it all in - that is annoying when we are trying to leave a place.

2)It really is a problem that the vinyl doesn't have a cover - I tried to put a sheet down, but it slides all to one side once she starts moving. The vinyl wakes her up at times when she moves on it - it is loud for her.

Having said that, I am still glad we decided on this item rather than a bulky pack-n-play.

I think if the company could address these two main issues- somehow get a sheet cover that is safe and works well and make a bigger carry bag - then this would be the traveller crib to get.

I have twins and decided to try ordering both a PeaPod travel bed with self-inflating mattress and this Phil and Ted's traveller travel cot for my fifteen month old twins that are very tall(outgrowing traditional pack and play/play yard). The PeaPod was much easier to assemble and over half the price, although if you want an open top similar to a crib, pick the Phil and Ted's travel bed - the PeaPod is more like a closed tent.

My kids love the PeaPod so far because I have allowed them to play in it and given them play time in our home to get them more comfortable with it. I could only find one PeaPod color (camo blue, not my favorite at first) that comes with a self-inflating mattress, but the color is nice and dark for sleepy toddlers. I have to admit that I am disappointed with the Phil and Ted traveller because I don't like that the mattress has to be zippered in a nylon sleeve and the expectation is that the baby/toddler sleeps on Nylon by this company. One of the reviews on another site recommended inserting a comforter or blanket in the bottom for the baby/toddler to sleep on. For the money that I paid for this item, shouldn't a form fitted washable child pad of some sort be a part of what I purchased? The PeaPod came with a "sleeping blanket" that is very thin, shaped to the size of the product and washable. I have no idea yet what I am going to put at the bottom of this P&T's travel bed to try to convince my toddlers that it is even close to their own crib! I will update my review if I find a way to make the bottom of the P&T travel bed comfortable and safe for one of the twins.

Update: I did not put the mattress in the sleeve of P&T travel bed as instructed. I just put it inside, and used a matress pad and crib sheets over it from their regular crib. This worked well... Cautionary note - This would probably not be an alternative for babies under 1 year. After using both types of beds for several different vacations, either one will work, but the P&T more closely resembles a smaller, more portable version of a real crib. It is more difficult to put together but it is made to be extremely sturdy. It is also more expensive, but my kids had an easier time adapting to it when we were away from home. If money is a concern, the peapod is an excellent option too (use your matress pad and crib sheets from your home), but you need to convince your kids that it is a great tent to sleep in. If money is no object, no need to convince toddlers of anything, the Phil and Teds travel crib is sturdy, and easier for a child to adapt to when away from home.

I loved the thickness and fabric of this pad and it washed well but my mattress in the mini crib I have is 2" foam and this pad fit too snug over the mattress so when you added a sheet it created a pocket between the mattress and crib bars/bottom in the corners where the mattress buckled. I have not been using in the bed as felt the pockets were large enough to be unsafe but have used the pads in my pack n play and fits a thinner mattress much better. Would not rec. for larger foam mattress.

I will never use a pack-n-play again. In the few weeks that I've owned the pea pod, it has quickly become an essential piece of baby gear. It sets up in literally 30 seconds, and is so portable. I bought this to use on a vacation, but now I use it at home all the time too. I think my daughter actually prefers sleeping in the pea pod to the uncomfortable pack-n-play mattress. You have to be careful to not wake your baby when you zip the pod closed, but that's the only 'con' I can think of. I will be taking it on a backpacking trip in a few weeks, and we will just pack the tent (not the air mattress) to save on weight.

We bought thi travel bed initially for a camping trip. We needed a way to keep our 10 month old secure in a bunk--but she wasn't old enough for just a bedrail under the mattress. Needless to say the is one of the BEST baby purchases we have made since we've had a baby. Money, extremely well-spent. We hardly ever cart the pack and play around anymore, unless we are going on an extended stay. Easy to set-up, take down, AND a pack n play sheet will fit over the self-inflating mattress (which does work, but takes longer than blowing it up yourself). Also, love the carry bag, weighs litte, and you can just throw it over your shoulder. Awesome product--don't hestitate to buy.

While attractive, this portable crib was not one in which I was comfortable placing my grandbaby. There was a strong, unpleasant, chemical-like odor that seemed to emanate from the particle-board mattress holder. This is a really nice portable crib. Great because it folds away and can easily be stored in a large closet. The only thing that was "not pefect" was the pegs that support the bottom of the crib were uneven on one side which caused the board the mattress sits on to tilt more to one side than it was suppose to. So we had to drill new holes for new pegs to level it. This would have been a problem for someone who did not have the know-how or the tools to fix it. Other than that imperfection, we truly love the crib. It is great for grandparents who do not want a full size crib.

Bought this for our 5th child (now 9 months old) and I wish I'd had one earlier as our old pack-n-play was huge. I like to have a safe spot to put baby down in my living area, so that I don't have to constantly run back & forth to a bedroom. The small size has meant that I can have it in the hallway outside the bathroom while I shower. The speedy set-up & reasonable carrying size means that I don't mind moving it to another floor of the house or taking it on trips. The canopy was handy as we have a lot of skylights. I plan to keep this for when friends or family visit with a baby as it's sturdy & versatile.

I love this bassinet. Not only is it cute, but very functional. It fits in and out of doorways, and has really made my life much easier with a newborn. My only complaint is that when in the bassinet setting ( the padding is hanging from the top of the crib) and your baby gains a little bit of weight it sags in the middle. My son has started to lay across it since otherwise his bottom hangs a little bit. So, in that sense it is not functional for very long. I do love it, and am not sad that I bought it, but now I am going to buy a portable crib, a wood one, since I do not want him to be sleeping in a different room from me yet. If you are buying this so your baby can sleep in your bedroom and wish to do that for 3 months or more and money is a bit more of a factor it might be a better idea to just go directly to a wooden portable crib. They make great ones that fold. That way when your baby hits 10 pounds and you still want him in bassinet mode his but will not sag in the middle.

I bought this cause right now I live in a small townhouse with my mom. I have a full size crib but there is just not enough room. This is perfect. I can roll it through the door with out having to take it down and put it back up. It's higher than some of the other pack and plays with the bassinet attachment I looked at. I was very happy that the sheets were even less expensive than the regular crib sheets specially since I get the get the free shipping deal. Although the baby is not yet born. I feel after delivery getting him in and out of this will be a bit easier. It can fit along side my bed like the expensive cosleeper I was looking at but about $100 less. The assembly was also very easy and only took me about 5 minutes.

We bought this smaller pack n' play to save on space while traveling and staying in guest rooms. This travel bed seemed pretty shaky and the bassinet never laid flat. As he got older, it seemed to get too small too fast. He wasn't even 6 months old before he was cramped in the bed and waking up frequently at night because he rolled into a wall. It's already hard to travel, and we didn't need his temporary bed taking away even more precious sleep.

If you just want something to have around the house, I recommend the full sized pack n'play. I feel like I have gotten my money's worth in the 8 months that I've been using it. It's also just fine for road trips and doesn't take up too much room in the trunk of our Accord.
